Here's what we found for "Gift card scams and stolen gift cards"

We've received reports about a possible scam where people are stealing eBay gift card codes. This is happening outside of eBay on sites like Craigslist or through personal emails. When it's time to pay for an item, the seller asks the buyer to send the redemption code via email, phone, or other communication.

Here's how you can protect yourself:

  • Never give your eBay gift card redemption code or number to anyone
  • Only redeem eBay gift cards when paying for an item at eBay checkout
  • To verify that emails are from eBay, make sure they're in your Messages

If you receive a suspicious email or see a potential scam, please forward any related communication to spoof@ebay.com.

If you sent your eBay gift card redemption code to someone, contact us. If you lost your gift card, or it was stolen or damaged, in certain situations, we may be able to replace it. To see if you qualify, contact us.
